A Niagara Regional Police officer is preparing for another marathon, caffeine-fueled shift to help out the United Way of St. Catharines and District. For the second-year in a row, Const. Evan Lindsay will serve coffee and goodies around the clock at the Lake Street Tim Hortons to raise money toward the charity's $3.2-million campaign goal.

A total of 10 Coshocton County soccer players received top honors on the East District Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association All-Star teams recently released. In Division II boys, earning first-team honors were Coshocton's Lucas Dunlap and Trey Arney, along with River View's Ted Shipitalo, Austin Dickerson and Paul Hart. On the girls side, River View's Danielle Scheetz, Kristen Eaton and Keirsten Ashcraft made first team along with Coshocton's Courtney Turner and Ridgewood's Amanda Bible. Also named

Habersham Central capped off the 2009 cross country season with a pair of top 20 performances at the Class AAAA meet Saturday in Carrollton. The Raiders, the 8-AAAA runner-up, finished 13th in the boys' division while the Lady Raiders were 16th in the girls' meet. The boys division consisted of 32 teams and 226 runners while the girls race feature 31 teams and 212 runners.
